Exciting things are happening on San Diego’s Torrey Pines Mesa! UC San Diego this morning announced that T. Denny Sanford has committed $100 million to the creation of the the Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center. According to the university, the Sanford Center will accelerate development of drugs and cell therapies inspired by and derived from current human stem-cell research; establishing, promoting, and disseminating clinical trials and patient therapies that will help more quickly transform promise into reality.

“I am certain our stem-cell research at Sanford-Burnham will reach the clinical-trials stage. And I expect the proximity of the Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center to be a big help in this regard; there, scientists and physicians can work together to drive the field forward,” said Kristiina Vuori, M.D., Ph.D., president and interim CEO of Sanford-Burnham.

T. Denny Sanford is an Honorary Trustee at Sanford-Burnham. Click here to read more.
